The idea of peak experience, or being at one with the experience, is a core component of success. When you’re tracking, and things go wrong, its easy to spin out, to start listening to the noise that grows inside your mind.
I wrote a blog piece on this recently, and the mental power it must have taken for Tom Brady to ignore the inner critic. The discipline to quiet those voices isn’t some sort of innate gift, I think it is learned over time as you fail, and learn, and fail, and realize through that hardening what your core quality is.
